Troubleshooting Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) with Truv

Problem:

You've entered your login credentials, but Truv is asking for a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) code, or you're encountering an MFA error.

Solution:

Truv often requires MFA for enhanced security. Here’s how to handle it:

If MFA is Required:

  1. Enter Credentials: Enter your username and password for your Payroll Provider or Single Sign-On.
  2. MFA Prompt: You will be prompted to enter a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) code. This is typically a one-time passcode sent to a phone or email associated with your account, but it may vary by provider.
  3. Complete MFA: Enter the code as instructed.
  4. Successful Connection: Upon successful completion of the MFA, your account will be connected, and no further action is needed.

If you encounter an MFA Error:

  1. MFA Failure: After attempting to enter your MFA code, you receive an "Unable to confirm your identity" or similar verification failed message.
  2. Re-authenticate: The most common solution is to re-authenticate (log in again) and re-do the MFA process from the beginning.
  3. Try Another Method: If you continue to experience MFA errors after trying again, you may need to move on to another income verification method if available.
